Road to Nationals-We are good, but have not arrived
Last week was my biggest mileage week ever! Along with a race I am feeling pretty confident that in two weeks at Conference I will be super fit and in position to be All-Conference! This week however is going to be big for me, I need to hit another mileage high to get my fitness up more! And then next week I can have a taper to run really fast at Conference. Enjoy the blog this week peeps!
MONDAY
10:45 A.M. 4 Miles in 29:45
Today I did a solo recovery double nothing much to write about. Good start to the week with mileage though!
3:41 P.M. 9 Miles in 1:08:03
Monday’s are for running slow with Cuyler. Went out and back into Lisbon and did some strides afterwards to get to nine miles. Really pumped that I am a little ahead of where I was last week at this time and hopefully that trend continues throughout the week!
TUESDAY
7:34 A.M. 4 Miles 32:37
Another morning double! Did a solo town loop because I have been sick and not been able to get out of bed super early. Looking forward to the workout this afternoon!
3:44 P.M. 2.5 Mile Warm Up
5 Mile Tempo then 2x800
2.5 Mile Cool Down
Whew, today was a big one. We warmed up into Lisbon and did a mile loop of pavement for a five mile tempo. And we started ten seconds slower then the pace that we were supposed to go. But as we got into it we started to roll. It was a good tempo! Then we had two harder 800 meter reps at the end that were supposed to be 2:30 and I ran 2:32 and 2:26 which I am very proud of! Looking forward to my recovery double tomorrow and a possible steady segement run!
WEDNESDAY
1:28 P.M. 4 Miles in 31:22
Today is not an ideal day because I did not wake up in time to go on my double. But that being said after lunch I chilled for a bit then went out for a nice recovery four miles. As I am writing this the national rankings have came out for this week and the boys are ranked 28th in the country. We have laid the foundation for us to make it to the national meet, now we have to execute these next few weeks so that dream becomes a reality. See you in a little bit for an afternoon run!
3:44 P.M. 8 Miles in 1:00:33
Today was a very good recovery run. Had some good laughs with some of the higher mileage boys. Looking forward to another good recovery day tomorrow with a big workout Friday. Ten days out from Conference. I am looking to getting an All-Conference medal!
THURSDAY
8:41 A.M. 9 Miles in 1:06:26
Today was a nice easy recovery run with the boys! I am glad that this is one of the last big weeks before we start to taper because I am pretty tired. It is going to make a world of difference running less mileage and I can’t wait to get after the workout tomorrow. See you in the afternoon for another double!
4:00 P.M. 4 Miles in 31:16
Ran the double today with a fun group of boys. While we were doing the cut through of town loop there were these kids playing football and Brady called for the ball and he caught it. I thought that it was pretty funny. I love this team, I love how relaxed we are when we recover, but serious when we need to be. But the best part of all is that we are very good! See you tomorrow morning for 400 meter repeats!
FRIDAY
8:40 A.M. 2 Mile Warm up
16x400 with a minute rest
2 Mile Cool Down
Today was a very good day. The point of the workout today was to run sixteen four hundred meter reps much faster than race pace. And it felt really smooth, looking back to last year for this workout I ran a bit faster but it felt so much harder. I know that means that I am in much better shape than I was at this point last year. So we are going to have a nice recovery double this afternoon. A nice quality long run with Cuyler and Evan tomorrow then take Sunday off and get ready for the taper! See you in the afternoon!
4:12 P.M. 3 Miles in 21:27
Quick double before leaving for retreat! Looking forward to an awesome weekend with some dope friends. And a super hilly long run with the boys tomorrow!
SATURDAY
7:06 A.M. 12 Miles in 1:27:19
Today was a rough one. But this weekend is going to be a blast. I am at fall retreat for Salt Company and it is a great time! But nevertheless Cuyler, I, and Evan hit the gravel roads. And boy was this run hilly! It was a good recovery run and we didn’t go to hard. I am super excited for next week to roll at Conference!
SUNDAY
OFF
Took today off due to being worn out and tired from the retreat. But that being said I also have a new weekly mileage personal record which is awesome! Looking forward to tapering a bit for conference and running really fast in six days! See you next week and I love you much!
