One Last Season-Start of Indoor Track
These indoor and outdoor seasons will be the last of my competitive career. I have some huge goals for my curtain call and I hope that you all will enjoy going on this journey for me. For this training cycle my first and foremost goal is to break sixteen minutes in the 5000 meter run. I firmly belive that if I do the training over these next two months that I will be able to get there. I also have a couple of other time sensitive goals for indoor that are not as important than breaking sixteen. But at Conference in the end of Feburary I would like to score points for the Rams in the 5000 meter run. So I hope you enjoy the journey in the start of my season of lasts. Training this week should be light with mostly easy runs and start to build the base of my base training. Hope you enjoy!
MONDAY
3:50 P.M. 6 Miles in 45:57
It was a nice and easy six miles with the boys today! Getting back after it is always good :) Talked to Mason a little bit on the run and he said he might be willing to pace me for a sub sixteen 5000 which would be awesome! Run was nice and relaxed and a bit chilly. Going to go easy again tomorrow with a possible morning double. See you all tomorrow!
TUESDAY
3:49 P.M. 6 Miles in 44:40
Today was another easy run, we went out 2.5 miles on Ink road then ran back. Man, the boys were rowdy on the run today. I love it when we are just cruising around Linn county and making fools of ourselves. This makes the runs go by so much faster. After we got back into town the higher mileage guys went a bit down mud road. I am starting to feel like I am getting back in a little bit of shape, which is good. Had a good session of hill sprints then a circut too. See y’all tomorrow for a steady run!
WEDNESDAY
3:48 P.M. 7 Miles in 49:20
Today we had three steady segments. And boy did I feel good throughout the whole duration of the run. We ran on one of my favorite routes in the area which is big dipper! Our first steady segment however was right up one of the biggest hills in the area so that was fun. I ran the steady segments with Caleb, Austin, and Mason. If I want to accomplish my goals I have to train like someone who can break sixteen minutes in the 5000 meters. Tomorrow I will go easy to get my legs some rest before we do a workout on Friday. See y’all tomorrow!
THURSDAY
3:45 P.M. 6 Miles in 42:31
Today was another postive step forward in building the base of my base. It was a nice and chill easy run that was not to eventfull in structure or pace. I got the chance to talk about goals with Mason, Austin and Paul for the first bit of the run. Then me Aaron and Mason broke away from the group a bit and had some more goal conversation. So an in all today was a good day and I am looking forward to practice tomorrow.
FRIDAY
3:45 P.M. 2 Mile Warm up
8x200 @ 35ish
3 Mile Cool Down
Today was a good way to get back into the swing of a track mindset. We had a short workout of eight 200s at or around our current mile ability that coach gave us. They felt smooth and it was a great workout to close the week of organized practice. Going to do nine or ten miles on my own tomorrow for the long run of the week then looking forward to getting back to doubling starting next Monday. See you tomorrow for my long run!
SATURDAY
1:19 P.M. 9 Miles in 60:36
Today was a great run despite the poor conditions. I went by myself and ran our wind protected route into Lisbon. It was really cold, wet, and rainy. But that is not going to stop me from doing the work I need to do that will get me in good shape to score in the indoor 5000 meter run. Coach said something to me yesterday that made me a bit more motivated for indoor. There is no reason why I should not be a scorer in this Conference in the 5000, I have as much ability and I know that I can run with the best distance runners in this Conference so now I have to build my base stay smart in my training and hope for a great last indoor track season. Tomorrow I am off but will try to write a bit. Love you guys!
SUNDAY
OFF
Today was a good day to relax and do other things besides running. I am so grateful to be part of a running program that gives us the option to take a day off because sometimes the daily grind can be a little bit difficult and it makes running a little stale. Today as I was working in the sports center covering the front desk one of my professors saw me and said that one of my assignments is going to get published! So that is really cool! Hopefully it will give people some insight about distance running. Thanks for reading this week and I hope that you will be back next week!
